This job was made up of 3 main stages – of which Orchard were appointed Main Contractor for each. The initial stage involved dilapidation works to all 6 floors with the basement having to be made structurally secure via the implementation of a number of steels. The CAT A refurb involved replacing of windows, installation of new M&E services, new WC’s to all floors, new lifts. The whole building was also re-roofed in copper and a roof terrace was added to the 6th floor. For the final stage we were appointed by the incoming tenant No1 Garden Court Chambers on a D&B basis for the CAT B fit out. No 1 Garden Court Chambers had been based for many years in Temple and the move to Lincolns Inn represented challenges on many fronts, not least the change of working practices, moving from a largely cellular to a more open plan environment. Over a period of six months the Orchard Project guided No 1 Garden Court through the design process to create an environment that represents working practices of the 21st century whilst retaining much of the traditions of Chambers.
