Unit 1, Shellbank Estate, Dartford
A significant redevelopment project has commenced at Unit 1, Shellbank Estate in Dartford. This ambitious refurbishment aims to modernise the facility, enhancing both its structural integrity and functionality.
The scope of work includes a complete roofing overhaul, starting with the removal of the old asbestos roof sheets. The new roof will feature Kingspan KS1000RW Quadcore roof panels, ensuring durability and energy efficiency. To maximise natural daylight within the facility, Filon Triple Skin roof lights will be installed, contributing to an estimated 15% increase in daylight penetration.
The renovation also includes the installation of high-line and trim-line gutters, along with rainwater pipes to improve drainage and weather resilience. Additionally, the external facade will receive a makeover with the installation of a secondary grid system and TATA 0.7mm single skin cladding, enhancing the building’s thermal performance and aesthetics.
Further structural modifications involve the installation of new roller shutter doors and the construction of a partition wall to divide the existing unit into two separate spaces. To accommodate accessibility requirements, each unit will be equipped with a new entrance lobby and a DDA-compliant WC.
Fire safety measures are also being upgraded, with the installation of FD30 double timber fire doors. Inside, the project will introduce new flooring, providing a modern and durable surface suitable for various industrial applications. Moreover, energy-efficient LED lighting will be installed to improve visibility and reduce electricity consumption.
