UNIT A, THE TRITON CENTRE

At Orchard, we are proud of our continued efforts towards sustainability and a greener future; that is why we are incredibly pleased with our recently completed project: Unit A, The Triton Centre.

Located in West Thurrock, essentially underneath the QE2 bridge - between junction 30 and 31 on the m25 this is a 52,558 square foot unit now fully renovated to the highest standards, focusing on solar electrical production and self-sustainability. In the project's latter stages, we could run the entire site on solar power alone! As part of the contracted works, Orchard installed 403 solar cells mounted on the ceilings, totalling 806 square meters of surface area. Working with premium 183.37 kW system to achieve longevity and sustained peak production throughout their useful life. Over the course of a year these panels can produce 156,851 kWh, an outstanding figure sure to be able to support this building and the national grid as well.

Following on from our efforts above the roof, down at ground level, our efforts towards sustainability continued with the addition of 3 double electric car chargers; wall mounted serving six bays at the front of the building. These efforts contribute to our long-term sustainability goals as a company and as part of our planet mark pledge.

Further to these electrical works, the main body of our works represents a CAT A project, in which the entire building was refurbished, rewired and redecorated so that it is entirely ready for a new Tennant to move In and complete their fit-out. Our works included: New AC in the first floor offices, New sanitary ware and toilet overhaul, New decorations throughout.

Externally we fitted a stunning new curtain wall system to the front facade of the building helping this unit to stand out in a highly industrial area. Adjacent to the new curtain walling, we re clad the remains of the front elevation and the side elevation, with new highly efficient roller shutters being fitted at full height allowing for all manner of machinery and items to work through the opening void comfortably. Our in-house cladding and roofing specialists also completed a Giromax roof coating on the existing roof, resealing the top for another 25 years. Yet another step was taken in reducing waste that Orchard as a company produces when completing our renovation works.

As always, there will be a sample of our work within this news article, but for the full gallery and technical details of the project, please click here or head over to the “Our work” tab within the menu above.
